MTRCB earns 7th Consecutive Unmodified COA Opinion
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) received an Unmodified Opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for 2025, marking the seventh consecutive year the agency has received the highest audit opinion from the state auditor.
In its Annual Audit Report (AAR) transmitted to the MTRCB dated 02 June 2026, COA affirmed that the Agency’s financial statements fairly present, in all material respects, its financial position, financial performance, cash flows, and changes in net assets/equity in accordance with applicable government accounting standards.
The audit was conducted in compliance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs) and covered the Agency’s financial reporting, compliance with laws, rules and regulations, and implementation of prior audit recommendations.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto welcomed the favorable audit outcome, describing it as a testament to the Agency’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and sound fiscal management.
“We are deeply grateful to the Commission on Audit for its thorough and professional assessment of the Agency’s operations. Receiving an Unmodified Opinion for the seventh consecutive year reflects the MTRCB’s unwavering commitment to responsible governance and prudent stewardship of public funds,” said Sotto.
She likewise commended the dedication of MTRCB officials and employees whose collective efforts contributed to the positive audit findings.
“This achievement belongs to every member of the MTRCB family. It is the result of our shared commitment to integrity, efficiency, and public service. As we continue to modernize our systems and improve our services, we remain steadfast in ensuring that every peso entrusted to the Agency is managed with transparency and accountability,” she added.
In its transmittal letter, COA noted that the audit provided a reasonable basis for issuing an Unmodified Opinion and expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation extended by MTRCB officials and personnel throughout the audit process.
Last year, the MTRCB reported that it had generated more than ₱633 million in savings and kept it with the National Treasury.
The MTRCB remains committed to upholding the highest standards of public service and financial accountability as it advances programs and initiatives that support responsible viewing, media literacy, and nation-building.
