Modern Filipino homes start here: Why lighting and kitchens have become the biggest investments in home design

As more Filipinos build, renovate, and personalize their living spaces, lighting and kitchen design have emerged as defining investments. Through Futura Lights and Ferraza Kitchen, Moderno Home Depot is responding to the growing demand for smart, stylish, and functional home solutions — all under one roof.

Pinterest boards. TikTok home tours. Instagram-worthy kitchens. Filipino homeowners are finding inspiration everywhere — and they’re no longer renovating just to refresh a space. They’re investing in homes that reflect how they live, work, entertain, and recharge. As design inspiration becomes more accessible through social media, homeowners are becoming more intentional about where they spend their renovation budgets, prioritizing spaces that combine style with everyday functionality.

It's no surprise, then, that two areas have emerged as standout investments in the modern Filipino home: lighting and the kitchen. Once considered purely functional, both have evolved into defining features that shape not only a home’s aesthetics but also how people experience it every day.

As more Filipinos build their dream homes, renovate existing spaces, or move into condominium units, they’re looking beyond visuals. They’re seeking solutions that offer thoughtful design, practical innovation, and lasting value — qualities that have become the driving force behind Futura Lights and Ferraza Kitchen, the newest brands under Moderno Home Depot.

According to Jean Sanchez, co-owner of Moderno Home Depot, the idea behind both brands wasn’t born from chasing trends but from listening to customers.

“Many of our customers already trusted Moderno for their bathroom fixtures and naturally started asking if we also offered lighting and kitchen products,” she shares. “We saw an opportunity to make home building and renovation more convenient by offering quality solutions across more areas of the home. Instead of going to different suppliers, customers can now find products they trust in one place.”

“Our mission has always been to help Filipinos create better homes, and bathrooms were just the beginning,” Sanchez adds. “With Futura and Ferraza, we’re bringing that same commitment to lighting and kitchens. It’s about offering more complete home solutions while keeping the quality, service, and customer experience that people already associate with Moderno.”

Lighting That Shapes Everyday Living

Lighting has evolved from a purely practical necessity into one of the most influential elements of interior design.

Whether it’s creating a warm ambiance in the living room, improving focus in a home office, or highlighting architectural features, homeowners now see lighting as an investment that enhances both lifestyle and property value.

For Futura Lights, this means offering contemporary lighting fixtures that combine timeless aesthetics with customization, allowing homeowners to create spaces that reflect their personal style.

“I think social media has really changed the way people design their homes,” Sanchez says. “Homeowners are more design-conscious now because they’re constantly seeing inspiration online, so they usually already have a specific look they’re trying to achieve.”

The Kitchen as the Heart of the Modern Home

Today’s kitchens are no longer hidden workspaces — they’ve become gathering places where families cook, entertain, and spend meaningful time together.

As a result, homeowners are becoming more discerning when choosing appliances and fixtures, prioritizing products that combine performance, efficiency, and thoughtful design.

“We believe the kitchen should be more about functionality,” Sanchez explains. “Our focus is on smart features and practical innovations that make everyday cooking easier.”

Ferraza Kitchen’s lineup includes premium gas stoves, hobs, range hoods, sinks, faucets, and other kitchen essentials designed to simplify everyday living without compromising on style.

One of its standout features is an experiential showroom where customers can compare products firsthand.

“Our showroom features fully working range hoods, so customers can compare the suction, noise level, and features before making a decision,” Sanchez says. “We want customers to actually experience the products, not just see them on display.”

Making Smart Home Innovation More Accessible

Across both brands, accessibility remains central to their philosophy.

“Our goal is the same as it has always been with Moderno—to bring modern, high-tech products to more Filipino homes without the premium price tag,” Sanchez says. “We want people to enjoy innovative features like gesture control, sensors, and voice control without feeling like they ’re paying luxury prices.”

This commitment comes to life at the newly opened Futura Lights and Ferraza Kitchen showroom in Quezon City, where homeowners, architects, interior designers, contractors, and developers can explore premium lighting fixtures and kitchen appliances in a single immersive space.

Rather than simply displaying products, the showroom demonstrates how lighting and kitchen solutions work together to create homes that are functional, cohesive, and designed for modern living.

Building Modern Filipino Homes, One Space at a Time

Looking ahead, the company sees this as only the beginning.

“This is only the beginning for both brands,” Sanchez says. “We’ll continue expanding our product lines — from dishwashers, built-in ovens, and more smart kitchen solutions under Ferraza, to a wider range of customizable lighting under Futura. We’re also looking forward to opening bigger showrooms and bringing both brands to more locations nationwide.”

As Filipino homeowners continue to invest more thoughtfully in the spaces where life happens every day, lighting and kitchens have become more than finishing touches. They have become reflections of modern lifestyles, bringing together comfort, innovation, and design in ways that elevate everyday living.

The Futura Lights and Ferraza Kitchen showroom is on the second level of the Congressional Square Building, Congressional Avenue, Quezon City. For more information, follow Futura Lights and Ferraza Kitchen on Facebook and Instagram at @FuturaLightsPH and @FerrazaKitchen.
