Nominees revealed: Who will win at The 9th Eddys?

 


The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) kicked off mid-2026 with a bang, announcing the nominees for The Eddys, one of the top honors in Philippine entertainment.

In its 9th edition, the highly anticipated nominees announcement lit up the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on June 25, with the excitement streaming live to fans on PlayTime Entertainment’s YouTube channel.

The nominees reveal paved the way for the countdown to the much-awaited grand awards night on July 5, set to dazzle at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.

This year, the brightest stars and visionary filmmakers are set to be honored across 14 categories—each one celebrating the artistry, passion, and innovation that power Philippine entertainment.

Seven cinematic masterpieces that have captured the hearts of audiences everywhere will battle it out for Best Picture: Bar Boys: After School, Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, I’mPerfect, Journeyman, Quezon, Sunshine, and UnMarry.




The battle for Best Director is fiercely contested, with nominees Sigrid Andrea Bernardo (I’m Perfect), Antoinette Jadaone (Sunshine), Jeffrey Jeturian (UnMarry), Christian Paolo Lat and Dominic Lat (Journeyman), Kip Oebanda (Bar Boys: After School), Jerrold Tarog (Quezon), and Maria Diane Ventura (Eraserheads: Combo on the Run) bringing their bold visions to the spotlight.

The race for Best Actress is star-studded, with Mylene Dizon (Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan), Barbie Forteza (Kontrabida Academy), Krystel Go (I’mPerfect), Angelica Panganiban (UnMarry), Maris Racal (Sunshine), and Charo Santos (Only We Know) delivering unforgettable performances.

Best Actor promises an epic showdown as Carlo Aquino (Bar Boys: After School), Dingdong Dantes (Only We Know), Joshua Garcia (Meet, Greet & Bye), Jericho Rosales (Quezon), JC Santos (Journeyman), and Vice Ganda (Call Me Mother) vie for the coveted trophy.

The Best Supporting Actress category is packed with powerhouse talent: Susan Africa (How To Get Away From My Toxic Family), Eugene Domingo (UnMarry), Jennica Garcia (Sunshine), Odette Khan (Boys: After School), Rochelle Pangilinan (Child No. 82), and Sylvia Sanchez (I’mPerfect) are all in the running.

Best Supporting Actor features a stellar lineup: Lucas Andalio (Call Me Mother), Will Ashley (Bar Boys: After School), Rico Blanco (Manila’s Finest), Richard Quan (How To Get Away From My Toxic Family), Tom Rodriguez (UnMarry), and Zac Sibug (UnMarry) compete for acclaim.

The nominees' reveal turned into a mini-spectacle itself: OPM sensation Isha Ponti wowed the crowd with two stirring performances, rising stars Shira Tweg and Khai Flores of the upcoming thriller “Mantsa” graced the event, Playtime host Sam Acosta unveiled the major awards nominees, and Quezon City 5th District Congressman PM Vargas (brother of Councilor Alfred Vargas) lent his presence to the festivities.
