Gloria Diaz honored as Binibining Pilipinas launches Sisterhood Hall of Fame



The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) honored Ms. Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe 1969, as the inaugural recipient of the Binibining Pilipinas Sisterhood Hall of Fame Award. 

This recognition celebrates her groundbreaking achievement as the country’s first Miss Universe, marking a pivotal moment in Philippine pageantry history.

The first-ever Binibining Pilipinas Sisterhood Hall of Fame Award honors the camaraderie, teamwork, and collective achievements of generations of Filipina women who have shaped the history and legacy of Binibining Pilipinas.

Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Ma. Venus Raj presented the award to Glorua during the pageant's Gala Night at Novotel Manila Araneta City on June 22.

Starting this year, BPCI will annually bestow the honor on outstanding Binibinis whose accomplishments further strengthen the Binibining Pilipinas legacy.

Beyond the competition, the Gala Night also showcased BPCI’s ongoing commitment to service.

During the program, BPCI announced that proceeds from the upcoming National Costume Competition will support families and communities in Mindanao affected by the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake. These funds will be channeled through the Philippine Red Cross to aid relief and recovery efforts in the region.

Meanwhile, the competition for the Binibining Pilipinas 2026 crowns intensified as this year’s official candidates took center stage during the Gala Night.

Serving as the preliminary competition, the event featured candidates demonstrating their confidence, poise, and stage presence in the swimsuit and evening gown segments before a distinguished panel of judges.

Members of the BPCI Executive Committee and key sponsors led the preliminary judging, evaluating delegates ahead of next month’s highly anticipated Grand Coronation Night.

During the swimsuit competition, candidates wore designs by Dia Ali Ph paired with accessories by Arnel Papa. Later, they returned to the stage in evening gowns by their chosen designers, showcasing Filipino craftsmanship and creativity.

The Gala Night welcomed reigning Binibining Pilipinas queens, former winners and candidates, sponsors and partners, and members of the media.

The road to the crown

With the preliminary competition concluded, all eyes now turn to the Binibining Pilipinas 2026 Grand Coronation Night on July 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Pageant fans can also anticipate the remaining pre-pageant events: the unveiling of official portraits at Gateway Mall 2 on June 29, the National Costume Competition at the New Frontier Theater on July 2, and the Grand Parade of Beauties around Araneta City on July 11.
