Anne Curtis: Proudly Filipino, proudly halfie

 


Actress Anne Curtis expressed pride in her Australian and Filipino heritage, emphasizing that having mixed roots does not diminish her identity as a Filipino.

Curtis shared these thoughts in response to questions about the ongoing discussions around “halfies,” a topic that has recently stirred debate, especially within the pageant community.

“I don’t even want to comment on it. I’m proud to be a halfie, but I’m equally proud of my Filipino roots. This is my home, the place I choose to be. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I will always be proud to be Filipino,” she explained during her thanksgiving mediacon in Makati City, according to a report by ABS-CBN.

“Kanya-kanya yan—it’s up to them. Personally, as a halfie, I’m proud to be half-Australian, which is my father’s heritage. But I am also very proud to be Filipino—that’s why I’m here.”

The “It’s Showtime” host added that she will always take pride in representing the Philippines internationally.

“Whenever I am on the global stage, I represent the Philippines. The place is for the Philippines. I am always proud. When asked where I’m from, I say the Philippines. I will always be proud of that,” she added.

Filipino-American actor Matt Evans has said that he appreciates his mother and his family more these days with the help of his afternoon teleserye "The Greatest Love" aired weekdays on ABS-CBN.
