Joshua Garcia sets the record straight on viral fake photo
Kapamilya star Joshua Garcia remained unfazed after recently discussing a viral AI-generated shirtless image on social media.
The actor addressed the issue on May 21, 2026, during the Star Magic Spotlight Press Conference held at the Dolphy Theatre, ABS-CBN. When he first saw the fake photo, Joshua showed it to his team and joked, "Tignan n'yo yung katawan ko rito. Payatot pa ako."
When reporters asked if the image caused him any distress, Joshua simply said, "Hindi naman. Kasi alam ko namang hindi ko katawan 'yon."
Joshua, 28, believes he is not alone in being targeted by such deepfakes, noting the widespread prevalence of AI-generated content.
"I don't know. Like, sobrang dami ng AI sa internet. Hindi na siya makontrol. And I'm pretty sure hindi lang ako ang nakaka-experience niya sa napakaraming taon na dumaan," he stated.
The actor also quipped about taking matters into his own hands to prove the image was fake, suggesting he might post a photo of his real body. He added, "Kailangan kong mag-post ng ganoong totoo talaga para matakluban yung fake AI body ko."
Personal Growth
Shifting focus to his professional life, Joshua offered reflections on the wisdom he has acquired over his 17 years in the entertainment industry, balancing the technical demands of filming with significant personal growth, ahead of his upcoming show, Love is Never Gone.
Joshua specifically highlighted the distinct lessons in adaptability he learned while filming in Morocco. "Working with Ivana and working again with Direk Manny, tapos sa Morocco pa. Gusto ko kasi kapag nagsshoot kami sa ibang bansa, you get to play and work at the same time," Joshua shared.
Despite his years of experience, he admitted the international location presented new difficulties, especially navigating local cultural differences and the public curiosity that arose during shoots.
He also noted that the pressure of a stringent international schedule taught him the value of extreme concentration.
Joshua explained that while local filming in the Philippines allows for greater flexibility, the limited time and unfamiliar setting in Morocco made managing errors much more challenging.
Ultimately, after nearly two decades in the spotlight, Joshua’s most profound takeaway is the value of authentic human connection. "Every show na ginagawa ko, mas yung memories and mga tao yung binabaon ko eh," the actor said.
He concluded by emphasizing that his enduring career is built on these meaningful relationships, stating, "Ang ganda nung makapagcreate ka ng relationship with someone din ‘di ba?".
Love is Never Gone is available to stream exclusively on Prime Video, with new episodes released every Friday.
