Miguel Tanfelix: Exploring the world, inspiring the youth

Kapuso Ultimate Heartthrob Miguel Tanfelix has long expressed his passion for travel and self-discovery. Last year, his solo adventures in South America captivated thousands online, earning admiration for his boldness and independence. Since then, Miguel has continued to inspire others to embark on their own journeys of exploration.

This made it the perfect time for Miguel to take on his first solo hosting role in Planet XP. In this magazine-style infotainment special, Miguel guides viewers through immersive adventures and real-life encounters with nature. From mountain climbing and windsurfing to connecting with indigenous communities, he highlights the Philippines' diverse beauty.

For Miguel, this project holds personal and artistic significance. “Napatunayan ko rito na hindi sapat na pinapanood mo lang sa social media ‘yung adventures. Kailangan ma-experience mo firsthand ang pag-connect sa nature dahil marami kang matututunan,” he shares.

He emphasizes that Planet XP is more than just a show: “Bilang artista, kailangan piliin mong mabuti ang mga project at advocacy mo. For example, itong Planet XP, meron siyang campaign para sa iba’t ibang community sa Pilipinas at pino-promote nito ang pag-aalaga sa nature.”

As an adrenaline junkie, Miguel fully immerses himself in hosting Planet XP. “Gusto ko talaga na maging involved sa ganitong uri ng trabaho. Na-e-enjoy kong ma-experience ‘yung mga adventure kasi mas natututo ako. Gaya nung outdoor activities na na-try ko rito, for me it’s a recharge. Kahit nakakapagod physically, masaya siya emotionally. May fulfillment.”

Recently, Miguel also joined GMA Entertainment Group’s Be Juan Tama campaign alongside Boy Abunda, Chris Tiu, and Dingdong Dantes. This advocacy encourages viewers to select content that promotes mental, emotional, and social well-being.

These efforts reflect Miguel’s commitment to being a positive role model for the youth. He reiterates, “There is a sense of responsibility. Mas maraming batang nakatingin sa iyo, mas marami kang gustong gawing tama sa mundo para ma-inspire sila na gumawa rin ng tama sa ibang tao at sa kalikasan.”

Planet XP is a five-episode program created through a collaboration between GMA Network and the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), as a recipient of the 2024 National Endowment Fund for Children’s Television (NEFCTV). The show features Filipino sign language interpretation and closed captioning.

Premiering on May 2, Planet XP will air on GMA every Saturday at 6:30 p.m., following 24 Oras Weekend and before Pepito Manaloto. Full episodes will also be accessible on GMA Network and GMA Playground YouTube channels.
