WATCH: Rico Hizon says celebrities, politicians should be interviewed by real journalists

Award-winning broadcast journalist Rico Hizon candidly shared his reservations about celebrities interviewing other celebrities, expressing his skepticism toward the format.

Over lunch in Taguig City, Rico emphasized that professional journalists—not celebrities—should be the ones interviewing public figures, including celebrities and politicians.

"I firmly believe that genuine journalists should conduct interviews with celebrities and politicians. The current trend of celebrities interviewing their peers is something I don't support. Interviews should remain in the hands of professional journalists, not celebrities themselves.

"Whenever I see celebrities interviewing other celebrities, I can't help but be critical. I often cringe, particularly when the questions are irrelevant, stray off-topic, or seem inappropriate.

"As journalists, we must remain objective, fair, and balanced. It's important not to express overt excitement or bias during interviews," Rico explained.
