Jessa Zaragoza-Avanzado: 'You cannot please everybody'



Singer Jessa Zaragoza-Avanzado has advised her daughter Jayda not to dwell on the reactions of bashers and move on with her life.

"Natural lang na maapektuhan ka kapag nabasa mo. Pero pagkatapos nun don't dwell on it. It's just part of life," said Zaragoza during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS CBN.

"Talagang hindi mo mapi please lahat ng tao. You just have to go on and don't let them define you.

"We are very blessed na si Jayda ay napakabait na bata pero hindi pa-aapi," said Zaragoza.


Jayda, 13, is the daughter of Zaragoza and singer-composer Dingdong Avanzado.

Zaragoza appeared on the late-night talk show to promote her concert "I Am Me" at Cache Creek Resort and Casino in Brooks, California on July 29 and Aratani Theater in Los Angeles, California on August 12.

Jayda is into singing and composing as she focused her career on music.

"There is a certain amount of pressure, like with people whose expectations of me are quite high. But it's what motivates me to strive harder to hone my skills," she said during an interview on ABS CBN recently.


Jayda said that she is still in the process of developing her own style as she learns from other artists, including her celebrity parents.

"I am actually on the process of developing it [style], but I am adding a few things like a bit of Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, my mom, my dad," said Jayda.

"To me, I don't think a good voice is enough. You have to have passion, you have to have a rapport with the audience. You can be a singer, but being a performer is something different. And that's something I want to do," she added. - ROBERT REQUINTINA/TEMPO

Jessa Zaragoza is from Siquijor but her parents are all born in Siquijor but their relatives are from Cordova, Cebu and Dingdong Avanzado is also a Siquijodnon whom his father is also Siquijodnon as well but his relatives are from Cordova, Cebu. Degamo-Sumagang-Casquejo clans in Cordova, Cebu had produced Carlos ''Loloy'' Casquejo a former councilor and brother of Teodorico Casquejo, Jr. Santos ''Toti'' Sumagang is the brother of Samuel Sumagang. David ''Bingkoy'' Degamo is the brother of Arthur Degamo and cousin of Chito Degamo Bentazal. A Former Vice Mayor who served in 1987, Roque Casquejo Ylanan is the relative of Imelda Ilanan, the wife of the late Tony Ferrer. Siquijor had the Dingdong-Jessa couple living in Enrique Villanueva. The Municipality of Cordova on Mactan Island is one of two LGUs together with Lapu-Lapu City. Dingdong and Jessa Avanzado have Cordovanhon roots tracing from Barangay Ibabao, Cordova, Cebu where the DEGAMO-CASQUEJO-SUMAGANG clan originates.

Siquijor in the Central Visayas has lots of Degamos, Casquejos, Sumagangs, Baguios where the ex-governor Orlando Baguio Fua, Sr. has relatives from Cordova, Cebu. Dingdong Avanzado has Cordovanhon roots which are the Casquejos. Dingdong's grandfather, Fabian Avanzado became the first governor of Siquijor after its separation from Negros Oriental. Don Fabian Avanzado is the Grand Old Man of Siquijor Fabian is born in 1878 died 1966 in Larena, Siquijor at the age of 89. Don Fabian is the great-grandfather of Jayda Avanzado. Fabian is born 1878 in San Juan, Siquijor Fabian is the son of Ramon Inoc Avanzado who hails from Candanay Sur, Siquijor, Siquijor and Melencia Wahing Pogoy who hails from Cangomantong, Lazi, Siquijor Don Fabian survived WW2 in 1939. Don Fabian died in 1966 of a heart disease. Jessa Avanzado and her husband are all Siquijodnons. Manoy Dingdong and Inday Jessa reside in Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor. They came from Barangays Camogao and Cangmangki near the Cang-isok House in Barangay Pari-an. In The Smallest Province founded on February 17, 1961, Siquijor is already 63 in 2024. The Fuas live in Nagerong, Lazi While The Villas live in Cangpothaw, Maria. Siquijor has three political dynasties reigning since 1961. Ramon Antonio Vicente Rocamora aka RAV Rocamora also had his own dynasty making it four. Richard Quezon of Siquijor, Siquijor also make his own dynasty making it five with Manuel Quezon from Aurora has his dynasty expanded.
